I suspect that I have chosen to interpret this week’s photo challenge of abundance quite differently from most others. I have chosen to capture the abundance of snow and cold which dominated the last week’s Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Celebrations. For those of you unfamiliar with the Rendezvous it is a week-long winter festival that celebrates the lengthening of the days, the onset of spring, and our gold rush history. To say it has character would be the understatement of the century – where else do you get can can girls, the chainsaw chuck (yes, you read that correctly, people compete at throwing chainsaws), and beard growing competitions all mixed together? My favourite part of the festival is always the international snow sculpture competition. The best snow sculptors from around the world arrive in Whitehorse to compete and the results are always phenomenal. It is this abundance of amazing snow sculptures that I have chosen to share with you for this week’s photo challenge. I hope you enjoy checking them out as much as I did.
