It’s rare as an artist that you get to learn directly from one of your art idols – someone who helped to inspire you to pick up the brush in the first place – but that is exactly what I get to do this October. I have been accepted into a Master Artists Seminar with Robert Bateman from October 17-22 at Hollyhock Learning Centre on Cortes Island, BC. I was even granted a scholarship which I am incredibly grateful for. Even though it is still months away I’m already so excited. Robert Bateman is a giant in Canadian art, a tireless advocate for conservation, and a really wonderful person and mentor – I met him once before at a conference and can’t wait to spend more time with him and my fellow artists taking part in the program. If you haven’t heard of Hollyhock you should really check them out, they run a diverse and exciting set of programs every year – you might just find your dream course in among their programs.
