Whitehorse’s First Ever Art Battle

Whitehorse Art Battle

On May 10th Whitehorse will join communities across the country in hosting its first ever Art Battle.

What is Art Battle?

Art Battle is a competitive painting program that started in Toronto.  12 painters take part in an event, in 2 rounds of 6.  Each round lasts 20 minutes.  The audience watches the whole process and then votes for their favourite pieces.  The top two artists from each round compete in a third and final 20 minute round to name the event’s champion.  Then all of the art is auctioned off via silent auction.  This year communities across the country will host Art Battles that will ultimately lead to a national championship.  You can check out the national website here:

Whitehorse Art Battle Details

We’ll be announcing the participating artists in the next few days – keep your eyes peeled.

When: Saturday, May 10th, from 7-9 pm (doors at 6:30 pm, painting to start shortly after 7 pm)

Where: Whitehorse Wharf at the end of Main Street (outside)

We want this event to be accessible as possible so it’s free.  That said if you’re willing to give a donation it would be greatly appreciated to cover costs, support the artists and make more events like this possible in future.

Donation and auction purchases can be made in cash or by credit card.

Tim Cameron will be spinning tunes and Tyler Kuhn will be capturing the event through photos and video.
