Recently I spent a week as the visual artist for Arts in the Park, a free summer lunch-time arts festival the has been running in downtown Whitehorse for 18 years. The timing was perfect as I wanted to create a piece for my friends’ Derek and Jill’s wedding which took place this last weekend. In the end I got their piece created along with a second one that I’ve been hoping to get around to for a while now.
The week was beautiful – if a bit chilly a couple of the days – and I got to spend time teaching kids and interacting with the public, all while listening to some great music. If you haven’t made it down to Arts in the Park yet this summer and you’re in Whitehorse you’re missing out. It runs for two more weeks this season so you should head down to Lepage Park and take part in the fun!
