I’m producing a really exciting show this Sunday as part of the Pivot Theatre Festival – Haircuts by Children! We’ve brought in a theatre company from Toronto – Mammalian Diving Reflex – who have mounted this show around the world. Over the course of this week we are working with a class of grade five students from Elijah Smith Elementary School to train them to cut hair in preparation for a public performance this Sunday, January 18th, where they will be giving free haircuts to willing members of the public. This piece of public social theatre shines a light on the juxtaposed power dynamic and challenges us to think about what we trust children to do. The performance will run from 10 am – 1 pm and then again from 2 pm – 5 pm at Head to Toe Salon. You can get a twenty minute appointment by contacting me at 867-335-4884 or firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also stop by the performance just to watch, or join us for the talk-back (and ice cream) at the Marble Slab Creamery at 1 pm on Monday, January 19th.
