The Wish150 Yukon Mosaic opened at Arts Underground on Friday night to a jam-packed crowd. I was really honoured to be one of the artists asked to create work for the mosaic. 14 Yukon artists came together to depict our wishes for Canada in mosaic panels. The panels were then combined to create the image of a raven, Yukon’s official bird. The project is national in scope – with each province and territory creating their own mosaic – the […]
I’m excited to announce that my piece The Swan has been chosen to be the 2017 Celebration of Swans poster image. Each year, thousands of swans flock to patches of early open water in Southern Yukon. Yukoners and visitors alike love spending time watching the birds, which has led Environment Yukon to host the Celebration of Swans, an annual month-long event that combines bird watching, art, music, science, interpretation, and community engagement. To me it speaks to how closely linked […]
Well hello there loyal readers – long time, no see. It turns out that when you get pregnant and then give birth to a tiny bundle of joy or mischief personified, depending on your perspective and their mood, you lose time for pretty much everything else for a little while. But I’m back now! And you’ll start to see more regular blog posts again. For those of you who followed me on Twitter and Instagram my apologies for the accounts […]

I got some exciting news the other day. My piece Raven and Wolf that I created as part of the Plein Air Festival a few weeks ago was awarded the Aasman Public Choice Award for the festival. The award is determined by votes from everyone who attended the festival exhibition. The work of my fellow artists was truly fantastic, so I’m very honoured and humbled to have been presented with this beautiful award which is now living in my art […]
It’s been a busy week for art teaching. I spent Saturday at the Fireweed Market teaching a workshop on mixed media art cards and tomorrow afternoon I’ll be at Yukon Artists at Work teaching mixed media canvases as part of their Art Tasters Series. I’ve included the poster here in case you want to see the full suite of awesome workshops taking pace over the summer.
I have spent the last four days in the sun, wind, and rain with a group of fellow artists for Whitehorse’s second annual Plein Air Festival. Each day we were assigned a location to paint in – the SS Klondike, the Whitehorse Wharf, the grounds of the Whitehorse Visitor Reception Centre, and the front yard of Yukon Artists at Work – and between 11 am and 4 pm would set up outside and create a piece. With ten artists hard […]
Recently I was asked to create a commission of a swan using “huge amounts of pink and purple” with the words “she believed in the journey”. This is the end result. The women who commission it was thrilled and hopefully it brings a smile to your face as well.
The 19th season of Arts in the Park kicked off a few weeks ago and I got to be the demonstrating visual artist for the first week of the free lunch time summer festival. Over the course of the week I created a couple of pieces so that the public could see the work created from start to finish. You’ll be able to take an up-close and personal look at these at the upcoming Arts Up Front Festival. I also […]
Tyler Kuhn, the amazing and talented photographer who documents all of my art for me, has been incredibly tied up with some filmmaking projects which has kept him from getting me my recent artwork images. But he finally had a chance to catch up – which means that I can take today to finish catching up the blog – hurray! We start the process with sharing with you all of the work from my recent solo show Colour Theory. The […]
Early in the month the Sonata show opened at Yukon Artists @ Work. The show featured work from a number of artists inspired by music. I’ve finally had a chance to share with all of you the two pieces I created for the show. Enjoy!
