So as we step into 2014 I wanted to share a project with all of you that spun out across the full of 2013. The wonderful Carla Sonheim got a group of artists together from around the world and focused us on creating work related to giraffes…because, well, why not. It was a very fun experiment and let me explore a lot of entertaining side projects between my major art projects of 2013. I wanted to take this opportunity to publicly […]
The art course that I’m taking with Lilla Rogers, Making Art That Sells, continues to push me in new directions and challenge me, while at the same time constantly inspiring me. In the last two weeks we have designed plates for the home decor market integrating seed pods and a page from a children’s book based on the Hans Christian Anderson story, The Snail and The Rose Tree. This week we’re tackling abstract wall art. I have learned so much […]
So I’m going to share another piece of the continuing process of my Soul Restoration class with you today. We’ve been asked to define/chose a Truthteller – a person or entity (not a living person) who always has your best interest at heart and will help guide you when you feel lost. Most people in this process chose God, or a spiritual deity from their faith, so they find this process very easy. I found it really hard. You see […]
My Soul Restoration course builds in the concept of a soul house (a visual representation of where your soul lives within you) and asks you to create a mixed media piece based around that mental image. So of course, my soul house is a tree house, with a swing. I’d like to share the piece I put together for this purpose here.
I wanted to start this post by wishing a very happy birthday to my dear friend Mike – I missed his birthday dinner tonight because I was coaching Special Olympics so I figured the least I could do was send out a huge birthday wish here: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I would like to continue the trend today of sharing some of the work I’m doing in my Soul Restoration course with all of you. This post highlights the inside covers of […]
As part of my Soul Restoration course I need to do a lot of journaling work. Instead of starting a new journal I’ve decided to work in my art journal (especially since I plan to use lots of mixed media and painting techniques in my journal). To commemorate this decision I decorated my art journal covers on Saturday. Today I would like to share the outside covers with you.
I’m taking part in a very exciting program right now. The Brave Girls Club has just started to offer their very popular Soul Restoration program online to allow more women worldwide to take part. Soul Restoration uses the creation of art, specifically mixed media, collage, and painting, to help women take time for themselves, heal themselves and recover from whatever life has thrown their way, and become stronger…allowing them to more easily embody their true selves. It’s a beautiful program […]
