I’ve been working hard on creating a new website that brings together my website, the blog and my online store. I’m really excited to launch it today. I’m hoping you’ll check it out and let me know what you think. You can find it here: https://www.amberchurchart.com This also means that moving forwards this blog will be discontinued. I’ve moved a curated archive of this blog to the new site, and if you check it out you’ll notice that I’ve been […]
The art studio is starting to get really full as I work on a series of large pieces so I need to have a sale of my existing stock to make some space – both originals and prints. Use this link to get 30% at my Etsy store. If you happen to live in Whitehorse, Yukon then shipping costs can be refunded if you’re happy to pick it up or have it delivered instead of having it mailed. Use this […]

The 12 Days of Christmas started on Friday at the Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre. I have a display set up in partnership with fused glass artist, Aimee Ellis. I have prints, art cards, pins, magnets, necklaces featuring original artworks, and original canvases and matted ink and watercolour paintings. I thought you might like a few glimpses of some of the new work that was created for the show.

I’m heading to the UK on Saturday, so if you’ve been considering making an order now would be the perfect moment as I can get it out to you before I leave. In fact, if you make an order before I head out you can even get […]
On Sunday I returned from this year’s Great Northern Arts Festival in Inuvik. As always it was filled with great friends, inspiring work created by a set of even more inspiring artists, and lots of opportunities to learn. I got to take two workshops with the very talented Jen Lam – Learn to Spin (it was my first opportunity to spin with a spinning wheel instead of a drop spindle) and kumihimo braiding. I created a whole new set of […]

I’ve been intending to create a space on my website to highlight original artworks I have available for sale for quite some time now. Last night I finally got around to it. You can find the page here. If you’re interested in any of the work or would like more information don’t hesitate to contact me.
I’ve been doing a lot of professional development recently on the business side of visual arts as I have a set of goals to take my work outside of the Yukon (be that through residencies, galleries, shows, conferences, or publications). Part of this work has involved developing an artist’s statement for my entire practice – as opposed to just for individual shows. I’ve always thought of my practice in four distinct realms – my mixed media canvas work, my collage […]
After my gingerbread house collapsed last year I swore off making another. I have terminally bad luck when it comes to gingerbread houses – they collapse; they fall apart; the candy all slides off; they have walls or roofs that fall down; the gingerbread burns, or warps or is too thin or too thick – ultimately it ends in frustration and anger and tears every time. I can make super elaborate cakes but gingerbread has always been beyond me – […]
