The 12 Days of Christmas started on Friday at the Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre. I have a display set up in partnership with fused glass artist, Aimee Ellis. I have prints, art cards, pins, magnets, necklaces featuring original artworks, and original canvases and matted ink and watercolour paintings. I thought you might like a few glimpses of some of the new work that was created for the show.
I finally had a spare moment to add a new selection of prints to Etsy today. If you have a moment, please swing by and check out all the new designs on offer. I’m heading to the UK on Saturday, so if you’ve been considering making an order now would be the perfect moment as I can get it out to you before I leave. In fact, if you make an order before I head out you can even get […]
On Sunday I returned from this year’s Great Northern Arts Festival in Inuvik. As always it was filled with great friends, inspiring work created by a set of even more inspiring artists, and lots of opportunities to learn. I got to take two workshops with the very talented Jen Lam – Learn to Spin (it was my first opportunity to spin with a spinning wheel instead of a drop spindle) and kumihimo braiding. I created a whole new set of […]

I’ve been intending to create a space on my website to highlight original artworks I have available for sale for quite some time now. Last night I finally got around to it. You can find the page here. If you’re interested in any of the work or would like more information don’t hesitate to contact me.
I’ve been doing a lot of professional development recently on the business side of visual arts as I have a set of goals to take my work outside of the Yukon (be that through residencies, galleries, shows, conferences, or publications). Part of this work has involved developing an artist’s statement for my entire practice – as opposed to just for individual shows. I’ve always thought of my practice in four distinct realms – my mixed media canvas work, my collage […]
After my gingerbread house collapsed last year I swore off making another. I have terminally bad luck when it comes to gingerbread houses – they collapse; they fall apart; the candy all slides off; they have walls or roofs that fall down; the gingerbread burns, or warps or is too thin or too thick – ultimately it ends in frustration and anger and tears every time. I can make super elaborate cakes but gingerbread has always been beyond me – […]
I’m extending Raven Mad Designs social media reach by stepping on to Instagram. I’m going to use it to give you behind-the-scenes glimpses into my studio and projects as well as fun things going on in my world. This will couple to my other social media on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest, along with the Raven Mad Designs Newsletter (which you can sign up for here – look for a new holiday edition in the next few days with a Christmas […]
The creative and talented Evelyn Koh has decided to create a new pop-up shop in Haines Junction called Acacia Vintage. Over the month of December she will open her doors at 118 Quill Crescent Fridays from noon till 9 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. She has curated a diverse collection of beautiful things, some shiny and new, others worn and lovely, popping up in unexpected places and unusual spaces. Included in the mix you will find a […]
I just returned from Vancouver and a whirlwind of Christmas art shows. I took part in Cranberry Fair on November 24th in Whitehorse and then hopped on a plane to Vancouver for Make It Vancouver from November 28th to December 1st. It was exhausting but also very rewarding and I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all of you who came by to see me at the events. Over the course of the week I came up with […]
As we move closer to the holiday season more people are contacting me to commission original pieces of art as gifts. I really love doing this work – it’s a fun challenge and is inspiring to create work from the seed of someone else’s vision or idea. I wanted to share two pieces that I completed this week with you here. If you’re interested in a commission of your own feel free to contact me or stop by my booth […]
