14 Yukon artists, myself included, have teamed up to create the Yukon’s mosaic for the Wish 150 program – a national initiative included in the programming for Canada’s 150th anniversary that aims to bring together our communities through art and colour to catalyze a better future for the country. The concept of the project is that we all have powerful dreams and our collective imagination is a source of hope, direction and inspiration. Artists from across the country were asked […]
Well hello there loyal readers – long time, no see. It turns out that when you get pregnant and then give birth to a tiny bundle of joy or mischief personified, depending on your perspective and their mood, you lose time for pretty much everything else for a little while. But I’m back now! And you’ll start to see more regular blog posts again. For those of you who followed me on Twitter and Instagram my apologies for the accounts […]

My joint show with Celia McBride, JUXTAPOSITION, opened on Friday at Arts Underground. It is up for the next month. For those of you who can’t see the work in person I wanted to share a digital version of my portion of the work for you here. My work for this show focused on five Canadian national parks (Yoho, Banff, Kluane, Pacific Rim, and Nahanni). It involved creating a stylized version of images from these parks with a matte acrylic […]
Celia McBride and I are working on a joint show for March for Art Underground called JUXTAPOSITION. My work is celebrating the landscapes of Canada’s National Parks while hers is looking at built urban environments. With the help of a number of your suggestions on this blog and on Twitter I finished a piece for the show today that was causing me to tear my hair out (thank you Fawn Fritzen, Colleen, Agata Lawrynczyk, Phrogmom, Microrrelatososhortstories, Themeanderingmushroomman, Patrick, and YukonHulk). I […]
I’m very excited to be part of Yukon Art Society’s/Arts Underground’s summer group show, Got Your Number. As the name suggests the show features a range of work that incorporates numbers. My piece is called She knew age was only a number and I put it together as a celebration of the joy of the moment. If you’re in the Yukon, you should check out the show – it runs throughout the summer.
Arts Underground is putting together a show called I’ve got your number. In case you can’t guess the unifying theme of the works in the show will feature numbers. I gave it some thought and came up with a mixed media piece celebrating the journey of life. I wanted all of you to get the first chance to see it before it goes live to the public. Enjoy!
Scrawl on the Wall opened today. It’s a small but varied exhibit and it was full of people when we stopped into the opening (which was amazing because it was freezing outside with the wind gusting up to 60 km per hour). I also noticed that the Yukon News gave it a full page write-up in Friday’s paper which is very exciting. We snapped a picture of me with my piece Lost in Wonderland to share with all of you […]
It was a big day today. Today I wrapped up the finished print of Lost in Wonderland, put on my down jacket, my toque and mitts, and I walked two blocks down the street to Arts Underground. That simple trip changed everything – with that seemingly set of inconsequential actions I went from secretly wanting to be an artist to officially becoming an artist. My piece will be part of a show that starts next week (I’ll try and get […]
